Nicholas Daines

On 21st July 1993, a day before his 21st birthday, Nicholas graduated from the University of London with a B.Sc., First Class Honours, in Microbiology and Animal Physiology. However, since he was a young child, the only thing he could ever remember day-dreaming about was the impossibly glamorous life of being in the movies and on television. So without thinking twice, Nicholas quit his job and booked a ticket to the United States.  With all his things in a single suitcase he set out on a journey to make his dreams come true. Living the Hollywood dream was a lot tougher than Nicholas expected and found himself homeless at times and even rationing food just to get by. He was fortunate though, to meet some incredible people along the way who leant him their couch to sleep on allowing him to pursue his dreams of becoming a performer. Although his first attempt was unsuccessful, Nicholas had firmly planted the seeds of a dream. Today he is working in Hollywood his career in film and television is now a successful reality

 Being the face of a commercial campaign is big money and can be a great gateway to future success in the entertainment business. His breakthrough moment came as the star of a ‘Lakson Tobacco Company’ to advertise its successful brand of Royals Filter Cigarettes in 1998. The commercial titled ‘River Rescue’ was made specifically for the ‘Lakson Tobacco Company' was a full on white water river rafting and abseiling adrenaline rush. 

Nicholas is a popular science and wildlife presenter – an expert in microbiology and animal physiology, but he is not your traditional scientist. Nicholas has a broad brush interest in the living world, from the microscopic to the largest predators. He travels to some of the planet’s most awe-inspiring ecosystems in order to reveal the real beauty of nature. There is an appalling decline in wildlife around the world, threatening the very ecosystem we depend on. Through his exciting expeditions, Nicholas conveys vital knowledge of the real situation and is a passionate envoy for species at crisis point throughout the globe.

With an obvious and enduring love for science and nature along with his charismatic personality and fascinating subject matter, Nicholas is an engaging and informative presenter. Nicholas is keen to bring his scientific and natural history expertise to the fore and is open to all opportunities this can bring.

Nicholas has written, produced and presented an wine online series taking viewers on a journey to experience a portfolio of wines that are unique and like no other wines in the world. His series discovers one-of-a-kind grape varieties and unlocks the secrets of ancient vines.  His passion for wine drives him to make it accessible to everyone, removing the fear and snobbery surrounding it, and letting the viewer discover and develop their own palate. 

On the show, Nicholas investigates the influences of soil, climate and nature that combine to create incredibly distinct characters within the world of wine. Nicholas' adventures will take you to Sardinia, The Amalfi Coast and South Africa. Viticulture goes hand in hand with his passion for conservation, for he truly believes that if you work with nature and are good to the land - it will be good to you!

Nicholas was a natural gymnast from an early age. At his fist ever national competition, he won team gold and an individual bronze medal at the National Development Plan Finals. Nicholas's performance triggered the attention of coaches and agents excited by his raw talent. Great success followed on the competitive gymnastics circuit for many years and at University he led the varsity gymnastics team to victory against Oxford and Cambridge. As a result, the University bestowed upon him an honorary Purple for his acrobatic achievements. 

Gymnastics has always been a part of his life to the extent that over 35 years later, Nicholas is still going strong using his gymnastic skills for his career as a professional stuntman and he's extremely proud to have competed internationally for Great Britain as part of team GB.

Nicholas's desire to become a stuntman and join one of the most exclusive groups in the acting profession started in May 1998 in Chertsey, Surrey, while filming as an extra on the hit TV cop drama series ‘The Bill’. On that particular day something magical happened which had a significant impact on Nicholas's life and changed the course of his career. A stunt scene was being performed, which involved a police car reversing and running a man over. The stuntman performing that day had to stand on a small platform that had been built on to the back of the police car and then on ‘action’ jump backwards onto the moving vehicle, and lay flat on the cars’ rear windshield. All the extras were standing around and looking the performance on in amazement. All eyes were on that stuntman and the respect he commanded from the cast and crew alike made him one of the principle actors in the show. Since then Nicholas hasn't looked back as an award winning member of a tight knit, highly trained professional community.

Since 1998, Nicholas has worked with the biggest stars of Hollywood royalty including Angelina Jolie on 'Maleficent', Brad Pitt on 'World War Z', Tom Cruise on 'Mission Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation', and 'Edge of Tomorrow', Chris Pine on 'Wonder Woman' and 'Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit', Colin Firth on 'Kingsman - Golden Circle', Henry Caville on 'Justice League', Chris Hemsworth on 'In The Heart of the Sea', Helen Mirren on 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms', Meryl Streep on 'Mamma Mia'. Nicholas has also double stars including Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, The Queen, Robert Carlyle, Michael Owen, Frankie Muniz.

Nicholas has also been nominated for a Taurus World Stunt Award in the 'Best Work At Height' category for his death-defying fall from a glacier in "The Golden Compass.

Nicholas has been the face of many photographic and commercial campaigns all around the world for brands like: Adidas, HSBC, Martini, Lucozade, Shell, Audi and BMW,
