Siddùra is the ruby-red jewel in Gallura’s winemaking crown. Cagnulari is relatively unknown even to many Sardinians, and in recent years its value has been re-evaluated, producing one of the island’s most delicious specialities. Situated near the medieval town of Luogosanto at Siddùra the art of winemaking is as old as the ancient people who first inhabited the lands of Sardinia.
Sardus Pater is most definitely a place where the past meets the present, taking Carignanon del Sulcis to new heights. Producing 600,000 bottles every single year this wine estate has received over 100 awards and acknowledgements. It is certainly a vineyard that deserves it’s wines to be known more worldwide.
An ultra modern interior set against the back drop of vines nourished by the granite sands of the Juannisolu and Capichera hills, Vigne Surrau offers the true taste of the Gallura. Starting with Madame Clicquot the women of wine have had to work to prove themselves. Many female winemakers have had to fight discrimination and sexism in what is still very much a male dominated industry. However, attitudes are changing and on my voyage through the vineyard's of the Amalfi coast for my online wine series 'The Grape Press' Imet 5 incredible female winemakers producing exceptional wine and championing equality in the work place.
Tokara is vineyard royalty and a landmark for fine dining in South Africa. For my online wine series 'The Grape Press' I got to film with the crème de la crème of the oenological and gastronomic world. With consistently award-winning wines and innovative terroir focused cuisine, I literally got to taste a little piece of this paradise with the winemaker Stuart Botha and award-winning chef Richard Carstens in a food and wine pairing extravaganza
Creation takes the food and wine paring at to another level. The experience at this vineyard is a mind-blowing flavour sensation, and the culinary innovation and imagination is nothing short of genius. The quality of ingredients reflects the quality of the grapes that are used in the winemaking process. This is a unique wine and dine experience that can only be found in the Cape winelands and in my opinion Creation should become a landmark for South Africa.
If you enjoy wine as much as I do then you will have even more reasons to be impressed by Cape Town. The ‘Mother City” and winner of the Telegraph ‘Best City in the World’ award 2017 is the largest winemaking region in South Africa and dates back to 1659. These vineyards have been incredibly influential in fuelling my passion for wine. Each one is unique producing wines that are celebrated the world over.
